BEGINNER PIANO (5TH GRADE+)

Course Outline:
1. Introduction to the Piano – Exploring the keyboard, black and white key patterns, hand position.
2. Music Basics – Learning notes, rhythms, and simple musical symbols.
3. Playing with the Right Hand – Finger numbers, melodies, and short songs.
4. Playing with the Left Hand – Simple patterns, chords, and accompaniment.
5. Hands Together – Coordinating both hands in beginner pieces.
6. Expression & Creativity – Dynamics, phrasing, and creating original patterns.
7. Performance Prep – Practicing and sharing pieces with peers or family.
Objectives:
Students will be able to:
• Identify piano keys and basic music symbols on the staff.
• Play simple melodies and rhythms with correct fingering and posture.
• Coordinate hands together in beginner-level exercises and songs.
• Demonstrate an understanding of dynamics (soft/loud) and tempo (fast/slow).
• Gain confidence performing music in a supportive environment.
• Show curiosity and creativity by exploring their own musical ideas.
Participants must be entering grades 5 to 12.
Minimum: 4
Maximum: 10
